The curriculum followed at Sebastopol Charter is based on a developmental model that is directly linked to the age of the student. Below is our grade assignment by student age (birth date) policy.
Students will be enrolled or assigned in the lottery in each class according to their age. See the chart below.
Note: For the 2026-2027 school year: Transitional Kindergarten (TK), applies for those children turning 4 years of age by Sept. 1, 2026, and Kindergarten applies for children turning 5 years of age on or after Sept. 1, 2026.
The grade level that you are applying for in our Lottery has been automatically determined by your child’s birthdate. If you cannot find the grade option you want, this is the reason.
If you believe your child should be assigned to a higher or lower grade, you will need to submit an email request to the Enrollment Director, Kristi Darling [email protected], and it must be approved by the Executive Director in order for us to make a change.

Sebastopol Charter shall be nonsectarian in its programs, admission policies, employment practices, and all other operations, shall not charge tuition, and shall not discriminate against any person on the basis of ethnicity, national origin, race, gender, disability, or any other characteristic designated in SB777 and as set forth in Section 47605(d) of the Education Code.
